Located just west of Downtown Columbus, Franklinton is a historic neighborhood with a lively arts scene and affordable housing. It is home to a renowned science museum, a state-of-the-art hospital, and plenty of green space. The neighborhood’s main thoroughfare is West Broad Street, also known as US-40 or the National Road, which bisects Franklinton traveling east to west. There are a number of restaurants, shops, and mixed-use spaces here.
With a collection of art collectives hosting creative events, Franklinton is experiencing a renaissance as a new center for Columbus’ art scene. There are a number of historical sites in Franklinton, including the oldest Harley-Davidson dealership in America, Holy Family Catholic Church, and The Depot Event Center. The Center of Science and Industry (COSI) is located in Franklinton along the Scioto River. There are a number of parks in the neighborhood, including McKinley Park, Cody Park, Maurice Gates Memorial Park, and Genoa Park, hosting athletic fields, basketball courts, picnicking facilities, playgrounds, and walking trails. Franklinton is also home to Mount Carmel West, a renowned state-of-the-art hospital.
