Cutler Real Estate asked Kim a few questions so you can get to know her better, and here are Kim's replies.
1. What is your professional/educational background?
I graduated from University of Michigan with a degree in Sport Management, with my eye on brand marketing for an iconic sport brand. My career began in Chicago, where I was hired to be an Account Executive at Leo Burnett in Chicago. I loved the client management aspect of my job, and I was driven by smart, strategic creative work. In moving to Columbus in 2002, I transitioned into real estate by directing sales and marketing for real estate developers focused on downtown living. From there, I received my real estate license in 2010, and never looked back.
2. Why did you choose a career in real estate?
I love working with clients - that is the consistent thread through my entire career - great client management. There are many elements to this that I enjoy - I like being a creative problem solver; I like providing my clients with the information they need to make decisions; I like to create a sense of calm in what can often be an emotional, stressful time in life. I also love the psychology that is an integral part of this business - I believe you have to be a great listener to be successful in this industry. I like to listen to my clients and hear what they hope to achieve, and I do my best to make that happen.
3. What area do you live in currently and what do you like about where you live?
After spending 6 years downtown, my husband and I made the move to Upper Arlington in 2010. My husband was born and raised in UA, and we knew that is where we wanted to raise our own kids. UA is a wonderful community - great location, wonderful schools, and amazing people. I feel lucky to be raising my family in such a great community.
4. How do you spend your free time?
"Family time" and "me time" are key for me - when I get quality time with my family, there is nothing better. Watching their sporting events, fun vacations, even just the wonderful little moments that fill the day (like homework and bedtime stories) - those are the things that drive me to be a better person and a better mom. But, let's be honest - in order for me to be present for them, I need to take care of me. I love working out, be it HIIT training or swimming or yoga - I love a good workout. Photography is another passion of mine. When I get these little outlets for me, it helps me to be more present in my family and work life.
5. If you could only keep 5 possessions what would they be?
Truly, it comes down to only 3 things - my husband, Doug, and my sons, Jackson and Graham.
6. In one word, how do you think your friends/family would describe you?
